Spiking
Blades make aeration slits which increase water and fertilizer penetration, help
relieve surface compaction and encourage new growth. The blades mount on
verti-cutting heads and can be spaced to suit your turf and weather conditions.
Between 33 (2' spacing) and 60 (1" spacing) blades are required to set up
three mower cutting heads. The power drives to the heads must be disconnected in
order for the spiking blades to work properly. The drive wheels of the
mower provide the power and the blades roll on the green or fairway at the
desired speed. The weight of the heads can drive the spikes up to 1 1/2"
into the turf. The height controls for the heads can be set to reduce the
penetration.
